Good Afternoon, Lincoln Family I want to make parents aware of several items during the extended school closure. As of 1:00 today Lincoln High School will be closed from Tuesday, March 17 until Monday, April 6. During our extended closure, we will provide limited meal service for students 18 and under from Thursday, March 19 through Friday, April 3. In order to prepare enough meals, we must determine the number of students who will be participating. Go to our school’s website or Facebook page to complete the online form letting us know the number from your household who will be participating and from which school site you will pick up your meals. All meals will be available in a “grab and go” format from selected schools in our district. You will drive through The parking lot of Lincoln Elementary. between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon to pick up meals for your students. Each family should complete the form one time. Please complete the form by Wednesday, March 18.
Next, during the closure, students will have opportunities for skills practice in their classes. These skills practice activiites will be available on their Google Classroom page. Students will be able to access these resources on their Chromebook. If parents need hard copies of activities, they will be available for pickup at Lincoln High School between 11:00-12:00 beginning Thursday. I will be available to get this work for your student during these hours. While we encourage our students to practice during this time, we are not attaching grades to these activities. These resources are simply to provide your students with practice during the extended closure.
In addition, all extra-curricular activities during this time have been cancelled. This includes all athletic events, as well as the Mu Alpha Theta, and Beta Club inductions. These events will be rescheduled at a later date.
Also, due to the recommendations issued by the Alabama Department of Health regarding large crowd gatherings, at this time we are postponing our Prom on April 10. The tentative reschedule date is Saturday, May 9. The ticket price of $50.00 will be honored upon our return to school. Should this date change in any way, students and parents will be notified.
On a personal note, I want to thank each of you for your support, flexibility, and availability during this time. I have received numerous calls and emails from people offering to help during this time, and I have been overwhelmed with the level of support.
