Important Information About School Meals for 2022-2023

The federal USDA waivers that allowed school districts to provide school breakfast and lunch at no cost to students for the past two years expired on June 30, 2022.

Families who do not qualify for free meals or did not complete a free/reduced lunch application last year can expect to pay full price for school meals when school resumes on Tuesday, August 9th.

You will be able to complete the application online or complete a paper application. Everyone is encouraged to apply online prior to the beginning of school. The online process is fast, secure, and simple.

Paper applications will be available at orientation. Applications can be turned in at your child's school or mailed to the Talladega County Board of Education, Child Nutrition Program, PO Box 887 Talladega, AL 35161.

Only one application needs to be completed per family and we encourage the submission of a new application if income decreases or household size increases.

Throughout the COVID pandemic, the Child Nutrition Program staff has worked tirelessly to continue to provide meals to the children of Talladega County Schools. Thank you for allowing us to provide meals to your student and for your understanding as we transition our program to follow the new rules and regulations governing it as set forth by the USDA and the Alabama State Department of Education.
