Statement from Dr. Suzanne Lacey, Superintendent, Talladega County Schools regarding district calendar changes and schools reopening.
Talladega County Schools has amended the 2020-2021 school calendar to reflect a new start date for students -- Thursday, August 20, 2020.
The health and safety of our students and school personnel remain our top priority. Due to the continued rise of COVID-19 cases in both our county and state, Talladega County Schools will begin the 2020-2021 school year under the Blended Learning Model (Yellow Phase).
The Blended Learning Model allows for increased physical distancing and increased sanitation. Smaller class sizes will also enhance opportunities for individualized instruction to meet students’ needs.
The graphic below describes the staggered schedule as well as health and safety protocols in place at all of our schools. Each local school will provide information regarding your child’s assigned group, schedule, distribution of devices, and other beginning of school procedures.
In addition, if you registered your child for Beacon Virtual Academy but would now prefer for your child to participate in the Blended Learning Model on campus, please email your child’s name and school name to email@example.com.
Your support is appreciated as we navigate through uncertain times.
