Mrs. Kayla Lucas, M.S. CCC-SLP

Hello! My name is Kayla Lucas and I am a speech-language pathologist (SLP) for Talladega County Schools. I am housed at Fayetteville but I also serve Winterboro High School and BB Comer High School.

I attended Fayetteville throughout my elementary and high school career and graduated in 2015. I received both of my college degrees from the University of Alabama. In 2020, I married my husband, Austin, and began my career in Jasper City Schools. I then transferred to Talladega County in 2021 and have been serving children in this area since. In my free time, I enjoy being outdoors, spending time with my family, and reading. I also enjoy traveling, and my husband and I love to go visit US National Parks. Recently, we took a trip to Europe and it was so fun!

My job as an SLP is to help students learn various skills related to communication. This includes correct production of speech sounds, vocabulary, fluency, grammar, and social skills. I work with students from Pre-K to 12th grade! My favorite part about being an SLP is that I get to meet, spend time with, and help so many students.

Fun facts about me:

-My favorite color is purple.

-I LOVE Christmas.

-My snack of choice is a pickle and a Dr. Pepper.

I am SO excited to work with my students this year and see so much growth in their abilities!
