Degrees and Certifications:
I was a professional public librarian for over 28 years before coming to Talladega County Central High School. Highlights from my former career including working for the Dallas Public Library (Dallas, TX) and Chattachoochee Valley Libraries (Columbus, GA) where I actively served to connect children and teens with books, reading, and information.
Currently, I am in my first year to teach, serving TCCHS students by providing classes in Biology, Environmental Science, and Human Anatomy & Physiology. I also run the school's STEAM Club. My education was obtained from the University of Alabama where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education: Biology and Psychology in 1986. I also hold a Master’s degree in Library Science from the University of Alabama School of Library and Information Studies, earned in 1988.
I grew up in Alabama where I frequently enjoyed the natural beauty of our state's lakes, rivers, forests, mountains and beaches. This served as my original inspiration to become a Biology teacher. I am an avid reader and enjoy historical fiction and reading about popular science. My hobbies include genealogy, strength training, and bead weaving. Since I have friends from all over the world, for fun, I enjoy armchair traveling, meeting people from other cultures, and drinking good coffee.
