Mrs. Rogers

My name is Rebecca Rogers, and I am currently in my 5th year of teaching at LES.  I have spent my whole career right here in Lincoln, teaching music to all of the students who pass through its doors.  I grew up in Peachtree City, Georgia.  I graduated from Auburn University in 2014 with a Bachelor's in Music Education.  I served as the President of the Auburn University Chamber Choir during my time there, and was a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, a music fraternity for women.  I feel incredibly lucky to have had the opportunity to experience the joy of music with the children and families of Lincoln. The Lincoln community is so special, and a place that I now consider a part of my home. My favorite part of my job is watching the kids personalities, leadership, and musicianship grow over the years of elementary school.  My biggest goal is to do anything I can to help students reach their potential, in music and beyond.

I am a member of NAfME and AMEA, profesional organizations for music educators.  I am currently pursuing National Board Certification.  This year, I am teaming up with colleagues to start the first choral ensemble for professionals in our state.  I serve as Treasurer for this newly formed choral ensemble, the Alabama Voices. I sing with the adult choir at church, and direct the children's choir.

My husband, James, is a band director for Mountain Brook City Schools.  We live in Irondale, sharing our small home with our four-legged family members, Diana & Charlotte (Cats), and Indy & Tucker (Dogs).  We love living in Birmingham to be near both of our families, and to experience all of the wonderful food it has to offer!  I fill my free time with my favorite hobbies: reading, watching TV, playing board games, knitting, hiking, camping, yoga, and traveling.

I hope we have a wonderful year making music together!
