Ms. Chante' Chatman, Ed. S

Greetings to all of you...

I would like to welcome you to Ms. Chantè Chatman’s world.🌍 Education is in my DNA and I absolutely LOVE children!! This year starts my 20th year of teaching and I am delighted to be chosen for such a great profession. I have taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 8th, 9th-12th grades, and even a collegiate course. My favorite subject to teach is LANGUAGE ARTS. Learning new things is what keeps my career exciting and innovating.

Talladega County Schools has been apart of my life since I was 5 years old. I graduated from Munford High School in 1994 and after graduating, I attended college in Huntsville, Alabama. In 1999, I received my Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education at Alabama Agricultural & Mechanical University (AAMU). I taught my very first year at Golden Springs Elementary School in Anniston, AL. Once I completed my first year of teaching, I began to pursue my master’s degree in elementary education at AAMU in 2001. I received a job as a first grade teacher on the same day I received my master’s. “GOD IS GOOD!”🙌🏽 Once that year was over, I moved to Georgia to start school at Argosy University of Atlanta. It was there when I fell in love with teaching reading (Kaminski) and the aspects of multiple intelligences with Howard Gardner. I began working on my thesis about the Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS) and researched the major levels of reading and children behavior. While working on my Ed.S, I was employed as the Title VI first grade teacher at Idlewood Elementary School in Decatur, GA. Shortly after, I received my Educational Specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction: K-12 in 2005. Upon completion, I moved back home to work at Munford Elementary School (My Alma Mater) teaching 2nd grade. I soon transferred to Lincoln Elementary School in 2005 replacing the legendary, Mrs. Georgia Christian, in 4th grade. 3rd and 5th grades at LES were grades I taught as well. In 2007, I became Lincoln High School’s Reading Specialist and in 2015, I worked with the middle school at Talladega County Central High School in Reading. In 2016, God has blessed me to come back to my first love as a Lincoln Elementary’s 4th Grade teacher and I’m loving every minute of it!!!

My aspirations in life is to become a mouthpiece for education. I love to mentor, assist, and support new teachers coming into the education field. During my spare time, I love to travel with my family & friends, as well as, fellowshipping with my sorority sisters. Singing worship songs, playing the drums, and dancing are just a few of my hobbies. I am crazy about Michael Jackson & Cam Newton and I love me some AUBURN FOOTBALL!! “Waaaarrrr Eagle, HEY!!!” 🦅
