Mrs. Kathy Landers

Kathy Landers was appointed to the Talladega County Board of Education (District 5) in July of 2010.  In November of 2016, Mrs. Landers was re-elected District 6 representative and is currently serving in her third term. 

Mrs. Landers graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1971.  She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from the University of Montevallo in 1976 and received a Master of Arts Degree in Education from UAB in 1990.  Mrs. Landers retired from the Talladega County School System in 2002 with 26 years of service.

Currently, she is employed by SAFE Family Services as Coordinator of Special Projects and a member of the Advisory Board for Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY). Mrs. Landers also serves on the Career Technical Education Advisory Board for Talladega County Schools and the Fayetteville School Foundation Board.

Mrs. Landers serves as AASB's District 6 Director which includes Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind, Anniston, Attalla, Calhoun, Cherokee, Cleburne, DeKalb, Etowah, Fort Payne, Gadsden, Jacksonville, Oxford, Pell City, Piedmont, St. Clair, Sylacauga, Talladega County, and Talladega City.

She is a member of First Baptist Church in Childersburg, Alabama.                                                           

She and her husband, Willie, are the parents of two children, Jim and Tiffanie.

Mrs. Susan Shaw

Susan Shaw is a 1985 graduate of Fayetteville High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Auburn University in 1988 and a Master of Arts Degree in Education from the University of Montevallo in 1990. She taught first grade at Fayetteville School for 26 years. She retired in 2014 and taught reading intervention at Fayetteville School until joining this board. 
 
Ms. Shaw is a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She serves as president of the Gamma Sigma chapter. She is a founding member of the Fayetteville School Foundation. She is also a member of Russell Chapel Baptist Church.
 
Ms. Shaw has two daughters, Marlee Guy and Laura Shaw.

Mrs. Sandra Tuck, Board Chairman

Mrs. Sandra Tuck was appointed to serve on the Talladega County Board of Education (District 1) beginning in November 2016. She was later elected to the position in June of 2018. Mrs. Tuck is a graduate of Munford High School.  She received a B.S. and M.S. degree from Alabama A & M University.

Mrs. Tuck retired from teaching in 2015 after thirty-five years of service. She spent twenty-four years at Winterboro High School and eleven years at Talladega County Central High School as a teacher of Special Education. The highlight of her career was coaching and volunteering for Special Olympics for those thirty-five years.

Mrs. Tuck is a member of Kelly’s Springs Baptist Church and serves as Vice-President of the Missionary Ministry, a member of the Matrons, Inspirational Choir, Drama Ministry, Scholarship Committee, and is a co-teacher for the Primary Sunday School Class.

Mrs. Tuck and her husband, Bernard, have one daughter, Bria, and one son, Sheldon.

Mr. John R. Ponder, Board Vice Chairman

John R. Ponder was elected to serve the Talladega County Board of Education (District 3) in November of 1994 and is currently serving his fourth term as a member of the board.

Mr. Ponder is a graduate of Munford High School and attended Gadsden State and Jacksonville State University.  He is a retired procurement forester with Georgia Pacific.  Currently, Mr. Ponder is co-owner of Camp Callers.  For eight years, he served in the National Guard on the 1/167th Mechanized Infantry.

Mr. Ponder is a member of Anniston United Methodist church.

Mr. Ponder and his wife, Debbie, are the parents of three children and five grandchildren. 

Dr. Donna Hudson

Dr. Donna Hudson

Dr. Donna Hudson was appointed to serve on the Talladega County Board of Education 

(District 2) beginning in February 2023.

Dr. Hudson is a graduate of Lincoln High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education and Master of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Jacksonville State University. She also earned an Educational Specialist Degree and Educational Doctorate in School Leadership from Samford University. She taught kindergarten, second grade, served as a reading specialist, assistant principal and principal at Lincoln Elementary School. She also served as Elementary Coordinator for Talladega County Schools. Dr. Hudson retired in 2019 after thirty years of service. She continued working with the school system to monitor reading instruction and as a new teacher mentor until joining this board.

Dr. Hudson is a member of Lincoln Methodist Church where she is a member of the Administrative Council and teaches the young adult class. She also volunteers with the Lincoln Food Pantry.

Dr. Hudson and her husband, Robin, have one daughter, Leslie (husband Wesley Yoder), and two grandsons, Jaylon and Dayne.
