My name is Bethany Thomas. I teach 7th grade science and sponsor Jr. Beta Club here at MMS. Science is my jam! When I was a kid, my favorite pastime was exploring the woods behind our house looking for wildlife to collect and make them my pets. I reside in Oxford with my two kids (Whitney & Wesley), two dogs (Jax & Mushu), and three hermit crabs (Sheldon, Herman, and Gary.) This is my 5th year teaching and my 3rd year at MMS. I love the family atmosphere and outdoor classrooms in our school. I am a 2001 graduate of B.B. Comer. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice/Biology from The University of Alabama at Birmingham. As a military spouse, I spent 16 years in Virginia. While in VA, I studied/worked for years as a Certified Massage Therapist and a DUI/Vice & Narcotics Legal Secretary prior to finding my surprise dream job as a teacher. I completed "career switcher" alternative teacher certification coursework at Regent University in Virginia in 2018, and am licensed by the State of Alabama to teach 6-8 grade sciences and 7-12 biological sciences. I hold a National Certificate for STEM Teaching completed in 2022. I will complete my M.Ed. this December. Thank you for allowing me to share my love for learning, nature, and science with your child.
