Thank you for your interest in substituting with Talladega County Schools! You must complete the following steps to be added to our substitute listing. 

    • Fill out a support application for Talladega County Schools.
    • Fill out a substitute license application for the State Department of Education, along with a $30.00 money order issued to ALSDE. If you are only interested in substituting in the lunchroom or as a bus driver, you will not need to obtain a substitute license from the State. 
    • Complete your background check with Gemalto Cogent (instructions are on the support application).
    • Turn in complete application, substitute license application, $30.00 money order, copy of driver's license, social security card, and a copy of your high school diploma. You can bring information to our Central Office located at 106 South Street West, Talladega, AL or mail complete packet to Talladega county Schools, P.O. BOX 887 Talladega, AL 35161. 

    Once your complete application has been processed, you will be invited to our substitute orientation. Substitute orientations are only held 4 times a year (July, October, January, March). During the orientation, you will learn about our policies and procedures for substitutes, have your picture taken for your employee badge, and fill out additional paperwork (please bring a voided check to set up Direct Deposit). Orientations are held monthly, and you will be notified when you are eligible to attend. 

    If you ever need to come off of the substitute list, please call 256-315-5136. If you decide that you would like to get back on the sub list once you come off, you will only be added when new sub lists are sent out (July, October, January, March). You will also have to complete additional paperwork to get back on the sub listing.
