Algebra 1; 8th Grade Pre-Algebra
The ultimate goal of the Algebra One course is to give the student a foundation for exploring and understanding algebra. Topics include the basic operations and properties of real numbers, measurement on a plane and in space, data analysis, linear equations, graphing, problem solving, functions and deductive reasoning.
As the last mathematics course prior to high school, pre-algebra is a challenging course which will provide students with real world understanding and application. Common Core standards for eighth grade focus on expressions and equations, functions, and geometry. Students will build their understandings in these areas by utilizing the eight mathematical practices.
