6th Grade Math
Welcome to 6th grade math! Here you will find information regarding communication, homework policies, conduct, and more. Please email your child's homeroom teacher for any student-specific information.
Overall, general parent communication will be sent through Class Dojo and Google Classroom. Information on how to join each will be sent home with your child. We will post newsletters, 6th grade information, events, etc. in both platforms for parents.
Math homework will be sent home every Monday, and it is due Friday morning. Math homework is spiral, meaning that it covers 5th grade material, as well as 6th grade material. Khan Academy is a great online resource for math videos and tutorials, if your children need extra assistance at home. We will go over homework every Friday together.
Conduct is recorded through Class Dojo. Students will receive points for positive and negative behaviors. Parents can follow their child's Class Dojo using the student's unique code that will be sent home with your child. Conduct grades will be recorded from each student's Class Dojo record. Class Dojo is also a great method for communicating with teachers, as we are all connected to each child's account.
Students will receive bronze grades that will count as 10 percent of their final grade, and these include homework and classwork. Students will also receive silver grades, which contribute to 30 percent of their final grade, and these include quizzes and formative assessments. Students will also receive gold grades that will count as 60 percent of their final grade, and these include summative tests.
Thursday folders will be sent home every week. They will contain graded work. Please sign and return the graded work packet each week.
