The Dauphin Island Sea Lab field trip from Childersburg Middle School was an exciting September weekend adventure to the coast of Alabama. Mr. Cosper’s dedicated science club students experienced many hands-on activities including seining, beach excursions, shark dissection, salt marsh invasion, plankton study, and an awesome trip on the Alabama Discovery research vessel. To be selected for this experience in 8th grade these 35 students were selected at the end of 7th grade that have an extreme love for science, outstanding behavior, maintained the top grades, were apart of the science club, and completed a science fair project. This field trip covered all major standards in Life and Physical science and took a year long process to plan, select, and execute. The students had a blast and came back really excited about the ecosystems on the coast of Alabama.
