What's Behind Your Code? This year's Showcase theme is "What's Behind Your Code?" If someone were to scan a QR code for your school, what would they find? Oral presentations will focus on these driving questions. What is unique about each of our schools? What makes each one shine? School displays will focus on bringing 21st Century Skills together through Project-Based Learning.
What You Will Find:
Project Based Learning Technology Showcase
Enjoydemonstrations of the latest technologies being used by K-12 students in Project Based Learning.
The Robots are Coming!
Learn about the latest robotics technologies from Alabama Industrial Development Technology (AIDT), Air Hydro Power, and Baxter the robot.
Oral Presentation Competition
Student Teams will compete as they tell what is behind the code at their school.
Cheer on your favorite school as the results from our competitions are announced at the 1:00 p.m. Closing Ceremonies.
WHAT TO EXPECT THURSDAY AFTERNOON:
Teachers and students from our 17 Talladega County Schools will showcase and demonstrate the interactive lessons they have been working on all year through our 21st Century Initiative. Visitors will have the opportunity to attend workshops in one of the many Childersburg High School 21st Century classrooms on such topics as College and Career Readiness, Online Safety and Online Resources for parents. Workshops will be 15 minutes in length giving everyone plenty of time to take in more than one workshop and visit the Showcase arena.
The Robots are coming! You may think the ROBOTS have taken over as you will see robots made from recycled products displayed throughout the Showcase. Each school was given an opportunity to participate in this optional creative event that will be judged on Thursday night.
Alabama Industrial Development Technology (AIDT), Air Hydro Power, and Baxter Robotics will bring the latest in Robotics technology for demonstration Thursday and Friday. These Robots will be alive so don't confuse them with the recycled ones!
All students are eager to talk about their lessons and demonstrate what they have learned through Project Based Learning. While student sharing is taking place there will also be anonymous judges posing as guests who will score all of the floor presentations to help us choose the best of the best. The winners of Floor Presentation will be announced on Friday at the 1:00 p.m. Closing Ceremony.
WHAT TO EXPECT FRIDAY:
The energy will continue on Friday as students lead in demonstrating the learning that has taken place in their classroom and showcased through their projects. The business community, visitors, and educators from around the state will enjoy learning from even the youngest of students. In another area of the Showcase, teams from each school will compete in the Oral Presentation event according to their age group. Each multi-media presentation is designed to promote their individual school as they demonstrate in detail to a panel of judges "What's Behind Your Code?" Each presentation will address what someone would find if they were to scan a QR code for your school. Oral presentations will focus on these driving questions. What is unique about each of our schools? What makes each one shine? Winners in each age division will be announce at the 1:00 p.m. Closing Ceremony.
The AIDT, Air Hydro Power, and Baxter Robotics robots will be centrally located so that students, teachers, and visitors may watch demonstrations and ask lots of questions!
